Another great flood: time to build an ark? Read the entire article, it is very interesting. I remember being taught in school (in the early 60's) that the Earth was in a warming cycle which would continue for thousands of years. Then, be followed by a cooling cycle resulting in another ice age in approximately 50 thousand years. Gee, I don't have a boat. Should I run out and buy one (if I can get the financing that is)? If we accept that all processes on Earth run according to cosmic cycles, which, in turn, depend on the Solar System's position in our Galaxy, then humankind may be facing another Great Flood. The Solar System, including the Earth, travels through the Galaxy in spiraling elliptic paths. The cycle time for the larger spiral is 200-210 million years, and for the smaller one, which determines minor galactic cycles, 26,000 years. Correspondingly, half a cycle lasts 130 centuries. This period almost exactly coincides with the date of the last Flood, the occurrence of which was real. The myths and legends of many peoples including that of the Bible recorded the event. The first, "warm" phase of the transitional period is the shortest and most active. This period witnesses a relatively fast braking of the planet and the release of tremendous amounts of heat, leading to global warming. In the second phase, the magnetic field will stabilize. The Earth will slowly increase its speed of rotation, and the electrical machine "Earth" will revert to near normal speed. The increased speed of rotation will bring on a cold spell, the ice glaciers will regain their mass, and the oceans will displace their former volumes.

I believe the Bible is literal and there for in genesis 8: quote:
20 Then Noah built an altar to the LORD and, taking some of all the clean animals and clean birds, he sacrificed burnt offerings on it. 21 The LORD smelled the pleasing aroma and said in his heart: "Never again will I curse the ground because of man, even though [a] every inclination of his heart is evil from childhood. And never again will I destroy all living creatures, as I have done.

God will make His home with them, and they will be His people. God himself will be with them and be their God."

Don't buy your boat yet. Minnesota is building two outdoor stadiums. One for the twins, another for the Gophers. The Vikinigs want a new outdoor stadium too. This means another ice age is coming!

There is not going to be a great flood so we do not have to worry about building an ark. God promised He would not flood the earth with water so this will not happened again. With that said, there are certainly other means of destroying mankind from the face of this earth (eg: Fire & Brimstone). However, we as Christians should not be worried with when and how the earth will end. This is none of our business and not within our authority. We should instead focus on living our lives in the manner that Christ lived His, worthy of carrying the cross each day with mercy and compassion.

I have a feeling that those who preach the end of the world is coming because of "global warming/ cooling" (take your pick). Really have no idea what is going on or why other than this earth has been going through these climagte changes long before man came on the scene, and will continue to do long after man as we know ourselves, cease to be. I hear a report the other that that Carbon, the same element that is being blamed for "global warming", because of its high levels in the atmosphere, is actually causing "global cooling" as we humans work to lower everone's "carbon footprint" Who do you believe and why? Does Man really have as much affect on climate change as we fancy ourselves as having?

leonfigg, I think there is clear evidence that human beings have contributed to global warming. How? Mostly through carbon dioxide from combustion of coal, oil, and gas. I believe this because we have scientic evidence to prove that human activity has been increasing the concentration of greenhouse gases into the earth's atmosphere. However, to preach that the world is coming to an end because of global warming is utter nonsense. There is a big difference between scientific evidence and false prophesy. I am a believer of scientific evidence but I am not a believer of false prophesy. For more information on global warming, please click here: http://lwf.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/globalwarming.html

So the rising of the temperature on Mars is caused in part by man? Or might solar activity have something to do with it... Same as here on earth.

A surreal scientific blunder last week raised a huge question mark about the temperature records that underpin the worldwide alarm over global warming. On Monday, Nasa's Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which is run by Al Gore's chief scientific ally, Dr James Hansen, and is one of four bodies responsible for monitoring global temperatures, announced that last month was the hottest October on record. This was startling. Across the world there were reports of unseasonal snow and plummeting temperatures last month, from the American Great Plains to China, and from the Alps to New Zealand. China's official news agency reported that Tibet had suffered its "worst snowstorm ever". In the US, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration registered 63 local snowfall records and 115 lowest-ever temperatures for the month, and ranked it as only the 70th-warmest October in 114 years. So what explained the anomaly? GISS's computerised temperature maps seemed to show readings across a large part of Russia had been up to 10 degrees higher than normal. But when expert readers of the two leading warming-sceptic blogs, Watts Up With That and Climate Audit, began detailed analysis of the GISS data they made an astonishing discovery. The reason for the freak figures was that scores of temperature records from Russia and elsewhere were not based on October readings at all. Figures from the previous month had simply been carried over and repeated two months running. Yeah, let's be sure to trust the scientists.
