Are you a compartmentalist? Christ, who is our life… Col 3:4 - When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Is Christ your life? Or is Christ your life only for Sunday mornings? Is Christ every part of your life? Do you love Him with all of you: your heart, soul, mind, and strength? Is He in your work? Your home? Your friendships? Your entertainment? Your worldview? What could you do to make this phrase true for your life: Christ, who is our life…

quote:
Are you a compartmentalist? Not at all. I believe Christ must be included in every aspect of our lives ... Christ, be the center of our lives ... this song is true for me. Oh, there are times my mind will wander (I am human), and I am blessed to have reminders throughout my day that bring my mind back to Him. quote:
What could you do to make this phrase true for your life: Christ, who is our life… For me, it's prayer, it's friends and spiritual buddies, it's receiving emails with devotions and prayer requests, it's little reminders in my home, my car, on my desk at work, but mostly, it's requesting the Holy Spirit to be with me throughout the day.

I know I have not reached that point, but it is my goal. He is definitely not my Weekend L-rd; He is my thought, my desire, my life every day, but to say every moment, no: I am not there yet. Is He in your work? Yes. Definitely. Your home? Yes. Definitely. Your friendships? Yes. Definitely. Your entertainment? I do my best to make sure He is there, but am I perfect? No. Your worldview? He is definitely my world-view, but my attitude, regarding my world view of the last couple days, may need some tweaking. I am not sure. I am having to learn to pray for my country's leader when I am very adamently against most of what he stands for and what he wants to enact in my country. Since this is not about politics, I will say nothing more than that now.

Well, I've never quite wrapped my mind around the "compartmentalist" state of mind, but I can answer the part of the question that asks: "Do you love Him with all of you: your heart, soul, mind, and strength?" No, I am quite sure I am not. James-somewhere says {paraphrasing} "Faith without works is dead." I am sure not doing good things for others with all my heart, soul, mind and strength. This is why I praise God for His Grace!!!! I depend upon it for my life. j

One thing we must remember is the difficulty in translating Greek into English. Too often we think of "life" as merely existing, as in bios. But the word here is "zoe" it is knowing that one exists for more than just the here and now; but one has been sovereignly place on Earth for a purpose to be revealed in Eternity.

May Christ be to our life all that Christ was in Paul`s life in Phil.3:8. "What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ".

I am praying that He will be everything to me and I would love Him more than all things but I still sin so if He was everything I wouldn't sin. "apart from Me you can doing nothing..." John 15 I am asking jesus to help me to love Him more.

I guess I can be a compartmentalist in many areas of my life, but not where it comes to my relationship with Christ. A pastor once gave this illustration and it really stuck with me. Some people have Christ as a slice of the pie. A pecan pie. Hot from the oven (I think he was sending a subliminal message or something). Anyway he said that our relationship with Him should be like the pie plate; that which all the other slices rest. Christ is, or at least should be, foundational to all that I do in life and all the decisions that I make.

That's good. I'd say, Christ who is my life is in all of my life and my mouth and my every waking moment. quote:
