My neice was hospitalized two years ago at 18 yrs old and her mom has not paid the bills. We are working with the hospital and doctors to pay them. The hospital told me that because my was only 18 at the time she is considered a minor under AL law which is 19 yrs old to be an adult. Does this mean that dn's credit is not being afffected; just my sister and her hubby?

It is like pulling teeth to get these people to let us GIVE THEM MONEY!

It would depend on who the hospital is billing. When my kids go to the doc or hospital, the bill comes in my name. That means that if it doesn't get paid, I am the one who gets hit on my credit bureau, BUT if they are working with the hospital, that hospital should not have it reported as a bad debt and I would be telling them that since so many years have gone by and I am trying to pay this back, I want it off of my credit. They have the authority to do that and it never hurts to ask.
