Is there anyone else here with a heart for evangelizing other nations? My conviction is for Japan in particular but I'm hoping everyone shares their experiences here!

I spent over 20 years taking the Gospel to Mexico, Central America, South America, The Philipenes, Cambodia, and Indonesia (Island of Timor). So I definately have a heart to take Christ to the world. Thanks RC

ORIGINAL: Ichiban Awesome stuff! Anything long term? They were all long term as we lived in the countries; it was not mission trips. We spent the most time in Mexico (a little over 7 years). If you get to Japan you will greatly enjoy it; a very interesting culture and place. Thanks RC

Right now, I'm just trying to build my cultural Japanese intelligence and find what exactly I'll be doing over there in the short term as I've been advised to do a short term trip first before commiting long term.

I don't know if you heard of J.E.M.S. (Japanese Evangelical Missionary Society), but they may be able to help you with missions in Japan.

Is there anyone else here with a heart for evangelizing other nations? See this post for a look into my heart on this topic. God has opened the doors for me these last few years, but I am asking Him to do so on a larger scale as I wind my my doctorate in communication studies.

My conviction is for Japan in particular but I'm hoping everyone shares their experiences here! Mike Rogers, an American ex-pat living in Japan, says that Americans who make the effort to learn Japanese can find work as English teachers. Here's a link to the latest of his contributions to a worthy web site. You can get a feel for the ex-pat life and perspective by reading what this guy has to say about his experiences. (Here's a link to one of my articles on this site.) And here's another link for some suggestions on teaching oneself another language. The nation on my heart is "the world's largest unevangelized nation," the Turkish republic. My language learning is plodding along -- work + grad school use up a lot of processor cycles! But making this effort has allowed our family to "adopt" grad students from that country. My two youngest kids dearly love their Muslim "surrogate big sister," and the feeling appears to be mutual. I am asking God to let me complete a dissertation that will serve as a bridge, and a badge of credibility.
