I updated my resume last night, and I sent out my resume to some places. It just got too late, and so I stopped. I found one place that has my job. The one I want. Doing what I like. But you know how it is, you gotta have an interview first. LOL! I had an interview for a company that never called me back. Well, the same job was posted again. So I sent an updated resume to the recruiter, to see if I can get in there. He wants me to get that job. LOL! Well that would totally be God, as I have already interviewed, and the did not call me back. But I would take a paycut to do what I like, I know that.

Well I have gotten some call backs, but I am not counting on anything. You know how it is. One company is like 1 mile from my house. Plus the person said they were hiring at 10K-15K higher than I was making before. They said is this OK. Ugh, yeah!!!! LOL! I am still nervous about interviewing, as I don't seem to have a lack of job interviews, it is closing the deal. I have a new confidence that this is the time that God is going to provide a job. I have not felt that before, but all weekend I really felt that it was time, and that the right door would open. I am excited for my new adventure.

Well the 2 call backs I got, they hired someone before I even got to interview. Yikes... Since then, nothing. No call backs. It is getting very hard out there. I only have 5 more weeks of work after this week.

How do you answer, why do you want to work here? Like at that particular place? I hav an interview on Tues and the recruiter said to be ready to answer this question. I am thinking, because it is a job! LOL! Can you say because it is a good fit with what I have been doing?

I'm by no means an expert on interviewing, but I do think that's a good answer (the second one, not the first, LOL). It's a good fit to your skills and experience, maybe something about the industry it's in? P.S. I didn't recognize you without your other avatar. Now I'm trying to remember what it was - the stock animated fighter jet?

Yes, it was for years and years. LOL! I am just figuring things out. This is from my hubby and my 1 year anniversary. OK, I will come up with some answers. I have until Tuesday.

Well I had an interview this morning. Good prospect. But the hours are not exactly what I want, but money & job is good. Won't know anything until later this week if I am being asked back. I don't feel this is the one. But I know that one is coming soon.

Well I was offered a position. It is temp-perm. They will covert me after the hire about 25 people, which she thinks should be in Jan. So I am taking it. I am so excited for this to be over for a while. Not having a regular job is hard on me. And all the time interviewing and sending out resumes, ugh!

So I get an email today that I my position did not get approved by the financial officer. Ugh! Starting over again. She is meeting with the CFO next week, so it could still happen, but I can't count on it.

Got a call from the one that is far away. They are doing a phone interview tomorrow. :( It seems wrong to take it knowing I will keep looking for something closer to home.

So I am doing an in person inerview at the job far away. I keep telling my husband that I will get that job because it is so far away. The bad thing is, that is is a great job. It is just a 1 hour drive with no traffic each way. :( He says not to even bother with interviewing as it is just too far, but I think take it and keep looking. At least I have something in this economy.

Yeah, that has helped so much. It was so hard spending 75-80 dollars to fill my tank. Now it is about 30 a week. So much better! But we have a subway here that I can ride, and that would help. The job is 1 mile from the subway station and my boss rides her bike from the station to work. So that is a plus. But it is 1 hour and 15 min ride. Yikes!

Hi! Yup, still looking. I really feel that nothing is going to come together until the new year. Once things settle down. Well the one that if far away, I did not get. My husband is not upset. LOL! So still two irons in the fire. It is good that you can work on stuff you like. I am at the point, that if something does not come along, I am going to take the subbing test and sub. I love teaching and it would be fun. Jocelyn

I have been to many job interviews. Some came off as interrogations rather than a friendly interview. Rapid fire questions along with unexpected questions...What is your favorite color and why? If u were an animal what type of animal would u be and why? How do u feel about working for females? Do u prefer working for females over males and why? Thru a temp agency i worked at this one company which was known to not hire temps. The common response from employees at this company was if u are a temp here they will not hire u. Temps do not enjoy a good reputation at this company because they are considered lazy and know nothings. Luckily for me i got in with a female who was patient with me and took the time to teach me how to do a better job for her. Soon she was requesting me and talking to other employees about me ...word got out and many were requesting me as their helper. The reason being, i did not slow them up and helped them as much as i could. They did not have to worry about me messing things up when i was on my end of the log. I also was able to keep up with their output which means they did not have to stop so i could catch up. If they said something unkind or out of frustration i turned the other cheek or did not take it personally. When goals were met i told them they were doing a good job. Anyways i researched the job, asked a lot of questions, checked into benefits...when the interview time came i let the interviewer know i did my homework on them and told her it was an excellent fit for me. I could work other places but this job is my first choice. It is for me a job with a future. Was impressed with the on the job training process. I went in with the attitude i am selling my services to this company and i am competing with others, many of whom are younger than me. One thing i found out about being older. They cannot turn u down because of ur age but they can turn u down for any number of reasons. Even if turned down call the interviewer, ask them how i can improve. If i made any mistakes. Ask them their opinion. If a job comes up in the future they will know u. Now that i work for the company i still am mostly a helper for new operators because nobody is better able to perform this job better than me. They can take the time to learn more about their job as they do not have to babysit me. In a way it is all right because i still get the big paychecks and the work is easy...if not incredibly boring. I look on the board go where i am assigned do my job and i do not whine. I told my supervisor it was my job to keep him sitting on his behind and drinking coffee. If u work with other people and have to depend on other people to accomplish ur job requirements then the only things that matter is can i work with this person? Can they handle their end of the log so i do not have to babysit them? It does not matter their gender age race or anything else. I wud take the competent old black guy as my helper over the young blonde college student who knows nothing. It's a no brainer. With the competent person, i do not have to babysit. Hopefully this will be helpful.

Wow! Thanks for the words of encouragement! I totally agree with you. I have gotten most of my position through contracting. I just do such a great job, that they find a position for me rather than lose me when my contract is up. So I totally hear you on doing your best when you are on a contract job, as you don't know where it might lead. Well I went on a panel interview today. It was 4 on 1! Yeah 4 people asking questions, and 1 (me) answering! It went OK. It is a great job, so now it is up to God to open to door or not. It is at a hospital, so that is a great industry to be in. But it fits me. I need to get busy and send out a follow up email. I saw an ad in the paper yesterday. It is my dream job. It is doing work comp again. For a roofing company that is 4.87 miles from my house. Could you even imagine???? THe company is big and in multiple states, so they are not being affected by the economy as much, as TX and FL will always have work, as long as there is hurricanes! LOL! I have a group interview on Friday for a retirement nursing home position. Anyone ever do a group interview?

OK, well I did not get the temp job, and the whole thing is weird. I am not sure what happened, as when I left I thought it was a sure thing. :( I even met the VP and he told me that they would be in contact very soon. I think it is my agency that I am working through. If I was not going through the agency I would have gotten it. Very weird. So two down one to go! :) Good thing I am getting used to being at home! :)
