Got it! Sorry to be so dense, its been wild around here. As far as yogurt, I'll have to forgo that since I am on the mercy of the hospital's cafeteria on food since we are rooming in this weekend.

Erin, you might want to get some probiotic capsules then. You can get them from Walmart, or any health food store. Seriously, you do not want to have to deal with thrush.

Acidophilus should work, just take ALOT of it and stagger it from when you take the abx.

Erin, you do know where you'd get thrush if you got it from ABX, don't you?

It's not usually in a place that's involved with nursing, if you get what I mean.

Eh...most times. I know that the thrush I had after I had Levi was due to the IV antibiotics I had while in labor. Absolutely positive. And we've never dealt with thrush any other time.

I wasn't disagreeing about ABX causing thrush; I was talking about where the thrush is located, what part of the body.

Right. Generally in the US, I have not heard the vaginal type referred to as thrush though. I was referring to thrush on my nipples and in Levi's mouth.

I've had tons of yeast infections (vaginal), but that was the first and only time I have had thrush (nipples).

Oh ok, I stand corrected! The only times I've ever had thrush (in the UK we call it thrush wherever it's located) from ABX, it's been vaginal. Sorry! I've learned something today!

From what I have noticed, most nursing women will get thrush in the nipples if they take abx, whereas a non nursing woman might get it vaginally. Doesn't make much sense, really.

I guess I should be posting about this here, since that other thread is the baby watch. LOL! I have a very sore bottom, no tears, but I have a spot that burns when I pee. I am increasing my liquids and am using lavender in my peri bottle. Both are helping. What else should I try?

How early can my milk change? It's already looking milky. He nurses a lot!

I used a sitz bath with some herbal stuff my midwife gave me. I had this to use in the bath tub, this to use in the sitz bath, and this.

She ships things very quickly, but you might be feeling a lot better by the time it gets to you. I was very swollen and I had stitches so I was hurting for a long time.

I am feeling a lot better in that area, I find it hard to relax enough to have a bm, though. That area doesn't hurt, but I'm afraid to just relax anything in that area, like it will hurt that skid. I did talk to my midwife about it, and she called it a skid or a brush burn. She wants me to continue using the comfrey. The lavender in my peri bottle seems to be working and maybe just getting more water.

I always have that problem right after having a baby. That first bm is scary, even if it ends up not hurting (my first one after Esther didn't).

My suggestion...drink lots of water and eat at least 3 apples a day. The apples are a natural stool softener and work great, IME. Plus, they're just yummy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Esther is one month old today. My bleeding is almost gone. I don't have to wear a pad at night anymore and only one all day, just in case. My "bits" are not sore at all anymore. We should be scheduling my hysterectomy when I go to my 6 week appointment. Happy and a little sad about that...
That's right about how long it took me with Jael for my milk to come in. It happened in the middle of the night. I remember her eating and eating and eating the night we came home and thinking through my foggy sleepy brain, "How is she sucking so much? I only have colostrum!" Her poop the next morning was yellow...that's how I knew, lol!
Rhys had a 'up' night last night. My milk is in and I am deliberately feeding him every two hours, I am hoping he will sleep better tonight. I need it. I feel more 'down' in the evening. I think it's just lack of sleep. I am doing much better with the blues than what I had with Nadia. I am so scared it will happen again. My midwife told me what I need to do to prevent it, and I'm doing it. I am also deliberately slowing myself down. I feel so good after having him, as compared with Nadia, that I feel like I could do anything. But I know I need to keep it low for a while.
Kathryn can you take anything that will help soften the BM? All women that I know of are given fibre stuff to drink 3 times a day on top of all the other drinking they want you to do in order to make the BM extra extra soft. Then I remember the midwife telling me to get a whole bunch of toilet paper and hold it up against my peri when it was time to push. I did that and it helped.
That is doing so much better. I'm eating more apples during the day and that seems to help.
I've got little tiny zits on the lower part of my belly and the insides of my legs. Any guesses? Either they were there before and I couldn't see them due to the belly or it's all the hormones coming out. They don't hurt, but I've got a lot.
How many of you dealt with the same level of emotions each time you had a baby? It seems to be better this time, but I'm starting to get the anxious feelings again. I do not want to go down this road again. I do think a lot of it is situational. I mean, come on, I'm not sleeping at night and I'm a worrier usually anyway, and I am so worried that this will last forever. But it does not. And I miss my daughter. But I'm scared about how things are going to work out when my mil goes home. I was so tired and strung out after Nadia I don't remember much of anything before 6 weeks. Please tell me this is normal!
