I have never had to go from giving my name to giving an invitation for a date in the same day, but if it happened like that then yes, so be it. However, getting to know a person well before dating them would be part of the norm for me.
It has actually worked out very well too!

Dinner does not costitute a commitment! Or obligation for a second "date". I always thought spending time with some one was how you got to know them!

It obligates a second date where I come from  - if you want to just "get to know" a person, you call, IM, or hang out somewhere free.
A tattoo is a big turnoff for me. I wouldn't hold it against a girl if she had it before I knew her, but i'm very much against them (aesthetically, functionally, morally, and health-wise). Odds are, her getting a tattoo after I know her is a great signal for me that she's not likely the mother-material, strong woman of God that i'm looking for in a wife. And that's okay - good luck to her.

I'm with the majority here, it's a BIG turn off. Not necessarily a deal breaker depending on location, design, and size... but I do not find them attractive. Tattoo removal is getting to be big bidniz. Young people are finding they want to be taken more seriously in the business world, and older people are finding that as the tattoo moves with aging skin, it looses it's appeal.

Okay Locke, I will rethink my position on this, but I just don't see dinner as a big deal! It's not like flying her round trip to Hawaii for a luau!!

I think tat's are okay for a certain type of woman. I mean, if a young lady has a tat, you know she is laid back probably into extreme types of things, (no not all but most) and if it isn't a skull and crossbones and nothing cartoonish like bugs bunny or mickey mouse. But keeping in feminine. Oh and no more tribal bands... UGH...

Picturing my girl with a tattoo just really kills the feminine quality that I'm drawn to. I'd rather not her ruin that image.
I'd much rather view her as the stunning, most beautiful creature God created opposed to something blotted with ink.
And personally, I'm not in favor of tattoos.

Well when I dated it was after many times spent hanging out with a group of people and getting to know someone in that way rather than one on one time alone . I'm sure that prob doesn't happen as often anymore...but believe it or not it used to be the norm for my friends and I.
It gave us a lot more time to learn about the person we might want to date as well as learn more about ourselves.
I would have thought it odd if a girl wanted to go out somewhere alone with me having just learned my name and knowing very little else about me. But Im sure that says a lot about my age.

Covered head to toe? Turnoff for sure. One or two that arent in obvious spots? I got no problem with that.

That may be possible when your young, at 40 years old with jobs family and life going on, how often is their a chance to hang out in a crowd to get to know someone?
Again I'm talking about dinner, not a summer in Europe.

My view has changed over time. Originally, I didn't really care for tattoos on women. But my ex-wife got a bunch of them the first couple years after we split up. We had a very amicable divorce and saw each other as friends for years, until we both remarried. So having known her prior to her getting the tattoos, I saw her as someone getting tattoos, rather than someone "with" tattoos. Since that time, I've become good friends with a number of people that have a lot of tattoos (sleeves, complete back coverage...) and have come to see that often tattoos don't really tell you or "say" much about the person, it's just a personal choice.
So now, I don't see them as a turnoff, nor do I see them as attractive, per se; but as others have mentioned the nature of a particular tattoo can be a turn off.

Simply put, I have a difficult time seeing how a tatoo is honoring Christ. While I have heard of some people who have religious symbol tatooed somewhere, it absolutely does not appeal to me.
While I know that Jesus doesn't judge us by the presence or absence of tatoos, I also question why one would want to mark their bodies in such a way. After reading your posts regarding older women with tatoos, I hope I don't notice if I encouner someone who has one.
If my wife got a tatoo, I would be greatly disappointed.
Wouldn't it be more rewarding to have the Word of God "tatooed" permanently on our hearts and minds than some other worldly marking on our bodies?

I actually like one or two small tattoos. Such as a small tribal tattoo on the back. I'm just not a fan of colored tattoos. If people want a tattoo then cool, good for them I can respect that. If people don't want a tattoo then cool, good for them I can respect that.

If you can't mention where it's at,why were YOU looking at it?I can only guess this was BEFORE you found Christ?
Being one who has tattoos,I can say that SOME tattoos CAN be attractive on a female.BUT,most of the tattoos that females get speak"get ya' some"(if you know what I mean).Much the same with body piercings.It REALLY concerns me that so many young 'christians' have gotten into the tattoo/piercing craze.Why is the 'church' trying so hard to be like the world?!All we have to do ,is look at 'who' and 'what', traditionally, had these types of things done to their bodies.Why are people trying to be something/one that they ARE NOT?!This goes for the secular world as well.BUT(!),the fact that someone has a tattoo,shouldn't disqualify them from a chance for a relationship.Will a surface flaw stop us from getting to know them?Can you love them as they are?Are they right with God?Let's be real..........
