Yeh Steve I do enjoy that kind of voice that sound you have sore throat..I cannot remember the name in English now..maybe star with a "r"...oh the LP's..do you still have them ? That is sooo nice you kept them and you still have the equipment to play those also.

As my ears are foreigner influenced by my own native ritmics also, I do get the feel of the nuaces of different influences they come up with playing rock plus sprinkles or great amount of blues, jazz etc although I do enjoy guitars etc I am naturaly a percursionist going also for the beat...some rock styles I cannot stand getting inside, like Ted Nugent's that I was introduced in 1978..too busy to my ears thou..I am still tropical..

I do guess the regional styles of rock depending on US region may have its own influences also...as east cost music may be very different than the west as north and south etc. Like British bands are so different also..I am lately into some of Paul Weller but he is very ecletic thou..here but that also..here...jazz rocks also...

Now... this man was sooo sweet..Jerry..

It is so very beautiful the sight of an aged gray hair awesome musician.

Bye Jerry rest in peace!

Raspy? I like raspy voices too, but Axl's really irritates me.

I bet you would like this, lots of cool percussion. In fact, many of their songs have cool percussion with Latin/Caribbean rhythms. Clash -- Mustapha Dance.

I'm more familiar with his stuff from The Jam. Love this song: In The City

That Dead song was great! Very relaxing.
I went to a Dead concert in the early 80s. I don't remember much from it except a drum solo that lasted about a half hour, and a freaked out guy being dragged out by security.

LOL..raspy sounds like Joe Cocker and some others? That was I call "sore throat", Phil Driscol has it also.. .

Nice, very dancable indeed..but do not forget I am Brazilian and percursion in my blood comes from samba..Caribean percursion do have some other waves going on not quite like my own..for exemple percursion of samba and the adding of Cuba percusion : Samba beat.. I am influenced heavily by that crib sounds...look an US singer musician interpreting my land sounds: Al mas que nada.....jazz flows..now listen Brazilian classic interpreted by Brazilian musicians..the percursion that again is inside me etc..:Bachianas Brasileiras 5

Percursion is very much strong to me as jazz and than the rock..as everybody do carry much musical elements inside themselves and influences. Plus when you are foreigner and English not your mother tongue when you experience English sounds you get the melody, rytmics and enjoy although have no idea what they are singing about too...

Music is sooo fantastic goes beyond borders.

(Ps: Sorry OP..I had to explain where my percursion comes from..)

That is soooo cute! It reminds me of the 80's.

Yes very relaxing indeed..

LOL..

Many times I do know songs that I like and have no idea of their names etc.it must be play for me to reckon etc..I almost sure that I enjoy rock with blues on it as I do enjoy mostly live playing bands atmosfere in small "nowhere"places and rustic surroundings not much commercial stuff...as huge concerts and etc I kind of not like huge multitude of people etc at least not, nowdays..

Thanks and sorry I went of topic..

Dude, the Beach Boys are about as Classic Rock as Nirvana. In other words, they're not. I'm not a big Beatles fan (yeah, I know it's heresy), but I'm sure glad they came along when they did to save the world from the Beach Boys. Bluck!

I really liked that Jorge Aragão video, Adriana. It is great music! You should start a thread on South American music.

Ok, I'm going out on a limb here...

...I never was a huge Metallica fan myself. It's more of a prejudice against Thrash or Speed Metal, I guess, that had me closed off to them for a long time. That, and the fact that the first video they put out with that guy in the hospital bed was beyond depressing.

...and if you don't hate me yet, I liked the cover album.

Thank you, its very up beating..dum dum dum... ..yep, great idea to open thread about SA music etc.

People and about that long hairy banging heads had their own thing going on I do not like their singing screaming style thou, as ACDC etc. I like the instruments playing but not the vocals because my ears are sensitive ones etc

I do enjoy rock instrumental as guitars fighting solos etc ..if you get any pure guitars solos please post the link and tell me.

Oh I remember now..Zakk Wylde he does bang his head and its metal...its cool when eletric guitar player plays with an accoustic, indeed...very interesting the energy he puts on it..amazing! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IA0kx9ZbOzI

And now with his regular guitar: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wsih9nUpq2U&feature=related....beautiful!

Look at his hair! Awesome sight!

go for it Adriana, i fell in love with smaba and soco while in tri nidad and brazil working in oil field.

as for the metallica, they are sellouts. if you k now their background they begged fans to trade tapes so they could be known. they get some money, hey dont trade music.

i listen to a country singer named Hank III. only thing i hate is he is a satanist. but he lets fans plug laptops into the soundboard to trade music. even after releasing some good music, to make his label mad, he still does the trading.

I dont say yaye or naye to trading. but dont turn your back on what made you known.

still on metallica, the music that made them was the old stuff ala justice for all and earlier. not the trashj from black album onward to now.

I guess am saying classic rock for me is 70's on. I dont consider 80's music onward classic because i grew up in that time frame

That's one of the few Metallica songs I really like. Probably because they stay relatively true to the original.

I watched the first ten seconds or so of the AC/DC video. You're the computer.

(At least you made up for it with the awesome Randy Rhodes)

That video's still messing with me. Let's correct the problem with one of my favorite AC/DC songs: Rocker

Ahhh...much better!
