Mr Qtman - how do you rate your hidden status? Many of us (myself, included) have lost such illustrious privilege. It says "offline" underneath our avatars, but we still show up in the lists on top of the threads and such.

Thank you!! I agree about the pastoral counselors... they don't have the training needed. I just finished reading one of Jay Adams books and he takes a Nouthetic style... that works for some issues, not specialized ones. A licensed social worker would be good, as would a mental health counselor. The domestic violence center that we have here has trained counselors who specialize in sexual abuse and I think I'll be calling them; I just don't like their liberal stances on certain issues. I guess I just have to make that known and talk through it. Well, each of you has been a wonderful support for me today. Like the Lioness said in another thread, I'm exhausted, but also feel as though a weight has been lifted. I can't remember if I posted this, but all this actually started last week for me as I was working through a book called Hurt People Hurt People. It's an excellent resource, by the way. I'm heading to bed, but you will all be in my prayers tonight! Thank you for your encouraging, heart-warming, and sometimes heart-wrenching stories of courage and hope! You have each blessed me tremendously!

The one that really makes me mad though is when I told Larry immediately after one guy touched me inappropriately he said, well honey, he just couldn't help it, you are beautiful. That made me, and still makes me mad as a hornet. *gasp* I would not have dealt well with that comment... It was not your fault, Kath. The guy was responsible for his own actions. I had all kinds of emotions from what Larry said, bewilderment, extreme anger, that kind of thing. I am still amazed he just shrugged it off. I wanted him to go punch his lights out

I agree about the pastoral counselors I would just add to this that it can be good to check with local pastors you trust to see who they recommend for professional counseling. They sometimes have solid Christian counselors who they KNOW are good who they refer people to when the issues are beyond their training. At least, the smart pastors do this. The not so smart ones don't.
