I think we need t-shirts that reads "I Am Proud To Be A Den Man"
Wouldn't us women look kinda silly wearing 'em?

Well not in some parts of the country. But I was actually thinking of us men wearing them.

Mr Qtman - how do you rate your hidden status?

Many of us (myself, included) have lost such illustrious privilege. It says "offline" underneath our avatars, but we still show up in the lists on top of the threads and such.

I think you only show up on your own computer. For example my name is at the top of this page with all the rest but yours is not there. Do we need to have a forums 101 class. Or was that just a blond moment?

Thank you!! I agree about the pastoral counselors... they don't have the training needed. I just finished reading one of Jay Adams books and he takes a Nouthetic style... that works for some issues, not specialized ones. A licensed social worker would be good, as would a mental health counselor. The domestic violence center that we have here has trained counselors who specialize in sexual abuse and I think I'll be calling them; I just don't like their liberal stances on certain issues. I guess I just have to make that known and talk through it.

Well, each of you has been a wonderful support for me today. Like the Lioness said in another thread, I'm exhausted, but also feel as though a weight has been lifted. I can't remember if I posted this, but all this actually started last week for me as I was working through a book called Hurt People Hurt People. It's an excellent resource, by the way.

I'm heading to bed, but you will all be in my prayers tonight! Thank you for your encouraging, heart-warming, and sometimes heart-wrenching stories of courage and hope! You have each blessed me tremendously!

G'night, G-N-M! Sleep well!

You both show up in my buddy list. Which I don't think happens when stealth mode is working properly.

Thank you Lioness.

Plus, you (Sam) show up in the Online Users list . . . if you were hidden, you wouldn't show up.

As for me (when I'm looking for myself) or you when you're looking for yourself . . . in the past, under "hidden" or "stealth", I would see my name in italics up at the top of any thread; and my name wouldn't appear anywhere in the online users list. Neither one of those are no longer so.

It's been a glitch I, and others, have reported in the Site Modification Glitch thread over in Feedback; I first reported it a couple weeks ago.

Blond moment, indeed.

Wait a minute . . . what were we talking about?

oooh . . . I just realized that Lioness said I was on her buddy list. Awww.

Thank you both! I was very much surprised that so many stories were shared. I think maybe (and very much hope) that it has been somewhat healing for those who did so. But not commenting is perfectly fine. I myself did not relate most of my experiences.

I answered the poll too but I didn't share my experiences. The one that really makes me mad though is when I told Larry immediately after one guy touched me inappropriately he said, well honey, he just couldn't help it, you are beautiful. That made me, and still makes me mad as a hornet.

. i didn't even bother telling my parents after that first time because after that, even my mother changed the way she looked at me. i couldn't bear for her to feel more disgusted with the daughter she had, so i never said anything to anyone.....except to you guys, just now. really.

Oh Elastic! I'm so sorry. That is just heartbreaking

*gasp* I would not have dealt well with that comment...

It was not your fault, Kath. The guy was responsible for his own actions.

I had all kinds of emotions from what Larry said, bewilderment, extreme anger, that kind of thing. I am still amazed he just shrugged it off. I wanted him to go punch his lights out

(((((((((((((((((((((Group Hug)))))))))))))))))))))

You all are so awesome! It's so hard to see how many have been victims of such horrid things, but it truly is from the Lord to see folks who have not only survived, but are now able to bless others in similar boats. It is such a blessing as well to find a group of friends who can just love each other and make a safe place where folks can know they won't be judged or blamed. It completely blows my mind some of the things that some of you have experienced in terms of folks reactions after the fact. I just don't get it.

Phosy, that was another great post over there. You deftly articulated what is so distressingly upsetting to me and others about what's been posted. Thanks for your compassion, your empathy and for fighting the good fight.

Thanks! I don't know that it will change anything, but it's been running through my head since about 2am last night...

I don't suppose you want a cookie, though.
How is that going?

Meh? I'm not feeling very positive about it right now. Ask me tomorrow, and maybe I will feel differently.

And no, I so do not want a cookie.

Sorry....I'm kinda moody. What I really want is real food. But that will not happen until Thanksgiving.

I agree about the pastoral counselors

I would just add to this that it can be good to check with local pastors you trust to see who they recommend for professional counseling. They sometimes have solid Christian counselors who they KNOW are good who they refer people to when the issues are beyond their training. At least, the smart pastors do this. The not so smart ones don't.

That's understandable. I probably would have wanted him to punch his lights out too.

And then I'd be wanting to punch my husband's lights out for saying that to me about it.

I agree with phosy and Lioness... people's reactions just floor me.
